Full Moon in Capricorn: June 24, 2021

Note: A much more in-depth version of this article is already up for members of the Guided Learning Community.

In this article, you’ll get the scoop on the astrology of this Full Moon in Capricorn on June 24, 2021, a deep dive into the aspects that impact it, and then finally you'll get a quick reminder of how to do a Full Moon ritual.

The Full Moon takes place on June 24 at 14:39 EDT, 18:39 UT.

The Full Moon is the energetic peak of the Lunar Cycle when the Moon and the Sun are at opposite sides of the zodiac, 180º away from each other, so the Sun's light fully illuminates the Moon, hence why we call it "Full."

Generally speaking, the Full Moon is when our emotions can feel like they’re at their most powerful and uncontrollable, so if things feel heightened now, it’s completely normal!

This is actually a bit more complicated with the Full Moon in Capricorn (opposing the Sun in Cancer), which may make us a bit 'emotionally constipated,' so be aware of this for yourself (and for others too--everyone is affected by this, be meta-mindful)!

The Full Moon in Capricorn is our first 'regular' lunation after a mighty Eclipse Season!

Cosmos gifted us with the amazing Capricorn Full Moon as our first Lunation after the Eclipses so that we can really release our need to control as we slowly begin to re-start our lives after some mighty fateful cosmic happenings over the course of the Gemini Lunar Cycle. We're now in the Cancer Lunar Cycle, and it's all about security and care.

The Scoop

Full Moons are always about releasing. We explored why exactly that is and how it works in the Full Moon in Scorpio article. This was actually the last non-eclipse Full Moon.

The eclipses, which corresponded with Mercury's Retrograde at home in Gemini (among other things), have been a site of great endings and great beginnings. They've cleared out the path for all of us to start moving forward on our cosmic quests for the rest of the year.

Before we can make 'clear' New Moon Wishes again, we need to release any of the tethers to our past paths, those ones that, after these intense eclipses, we have learned are no longer our cosmic quests.

This is why we have the Full Moon in Capricorn. It is not only a cosmic gift that the first lunation after the eclipses is a Full Moon (rather than a New Moon), but it is also especially exciting that it is Capricorn of all signs.

Past vs Future Orientations in Astrology

Cancer-Capricorn is all about the past. We find a lot of themes of ancestry, heritage, and history in both of these signs. This is also built into their common association with the family and specifically the parental figures in an individual's life.

Another great cosmic gift with this Full Moon is the fact that it has the slow-moving retrograde benefic planet of luck, Jupiter, forming harmonious, supportive, easy aspects to both the Sun and the Moon.

Jupiter just turned retrograde at the second degree of Pisces and Pisces forms a sextile to Capricorn and a trine to Cancer.

At this Full Moon, Jupiter is at 2º Pisces, and the Sun and Moon are at 3º Cancer and Capricorn, respectively. This is why Jupiter, rather than Neptune, is the planet that makes these aspects--Neptune is further away, at 23º.

Being within a 1º orb aspect to both of the Luminaries at the time of the Full Moon is extremely significant. Jupiter is seriously giving us a boost of lucky, auspicious, fateful energy to help us get through this Full Moon and keep going along our cosmic hero's journeys! Destiny calls, but we've got to clear the line first, and she's making it easier for. usto do so!

Whatever is happening at or around 2º of Pisces on your chart is going to be the place where all of the tension can be easily released and doing so in a Jupiterian, spiritual, mystical way is the best way to do that.

This can combine nicely with the more literal, practical, tangible approach that we should generally take to Capricorn Full Moons. It adds a more spiritual (perhaps even ritualistic) flavor to this particular lunation.

One Last Thing to Ponder…

Kahlil Gibran, Sand and Foam (1926):

"There is neither religion nor science beyond beauty."

This quote seems perfectly suited for the energies of this Lunation because it gets right to the gist of it. Beauty is peace, balance, harmony, symmetry, pronoia, sacred geometry, synchronicity, infinity, truth. Religion and science both try to grasp at it, but we can comprehend the truth underneath both by simply being mindful and actively participating in the boundless, mystical beauty of the cosmos.

Happy Full Moon to all of you!
