New Moon in Capricorn: January 13, 2021

The Scoop

The first New Moon of the year happens at exactly midnight (EST), which seems quite auspicious! But, trouble brews underneath as the two most challenging planets of the zodiac, Mars and Saturn, square off. There is no better way to imagine the energy of Mars square Saturn than the first presidential debate that happened in the US between Biden and Trump. Two old men fighting like babies. While that was a cardinal square and this is a fixed one, this is happening on a cardinal New Moon. We want to move on, move forward, move ahead, but something is holding us back. Set the intention to learn more rather than to ‘fight back.’

This is a special preview of one of the Scope Scoops that Cam writes for each major transit in the Monthly Energy Guide available exclusively on Patreon at www.patreon.com/888Collective for the low price of $11.11/month! There is so much other incredible content in these Guides!

New Moon: New You

TheScopeScoop.What.Is.A.New.Moon

The New Moon happens when the Moon moves into a conjunction with the Sun, meaning that the amount of degrees between them is 0°. The Moon appears invisible to us because there is no light reflecting on its surface. It is a time of low energy and we are meant to symbolically (and often, literally) plant the seeds for the next lunar cycle. This is often called setting your intentions.

Because of the absolutely astounding significance of the exact positioning of this New Moon on the 23° of Capricorn (which happens to be where basically all the craziness of 2020 was ignited and it played a major role last year), it seems clear that the cosmos is telling us that it’s time for us to move on. We’re ready. You’re ready. We can now approach things with a different perspective.

TheScopeScoop.23Degree.Capricorn

On January 12, 2020, Saturn and Pluto met at the 23° of Capricorn, which happened right after the first Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse of the year in Cancer-Capricorn (January 10).

It makes perfect sense that the cosmos is now giving us a chance with this New Moon—a new opportunity, a new start, a rebirth—to finally ‘get over’ things that happened in the past. This doesn’t necessarily mean that everything is going to be okay. It just means that many of us will start having cosmic nudges in the direction of moving on.

TheScopeScoop.Aspects.New.Moon.Cap.2021

The main influence over this New Moon is Pluto, as he is closely linked and one degree away from the exact point of the New Moon. This means that the Moon moves over Pluto pretty much just after moving over the Sun, and the Sun will soon follow and cross over Pluto.

Another important influence over this New Moon is the major impact of Mars square Saturn. We currently have Mars, Uranus, and Lilith all clustered relatively closely together in Taurus, and meanwhile, Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn are clustered close together in Aquarius. This major square is all about the clash between the old and the new.

New Moon Ritual

There are a number of different Live events and videos that you can attend/watch at the time of the New Moon. You can also make your own personalized ritual.

The main general steps that you should take include: releasing, grounding, intention setting, and one small step.

The best thing to do is to join the Rose Quartz tier of the 888 Collective’s Patreon, which gives access to the Sacred Si-Stars New & Full Moon Ceremonies led by the amazing goddess, Ally of Shanti Community (www.shanticommunity.com). You also get access to all of the 888 Collective’s incredible retreats on the four major seasonal changes of the astrological year.

Step 1: Releasing

One of the best methods of releasing is yoga.

Release the tension in your body and you’ll be amazed at how your Mind and Ego naturally release their tensions and oppositions as well. This is a powerful way for your physical and emotional-spiritual connection to be enhanced.

Because the New Moon is associated in Medical Astrology with being a time of low energy, make sure that you’re not going to hot and heavy on your physical output. There is also a clash of the titans going on between Mars and Saturn, which means there may be physical limitations (or consequences from over-exertion). Be mindful of your energy!

Step 2: Grounding

The hands-down best method of getting your Mind and Spirit grounded is by meditating. You can do a guided meditation on Youtube or you can follow The Scope Scoop’s recommendations below.

TheScopeScoop.Deep.Breathing

The best thing to do is to go to @TheSpiritualStove on Instagram or www.thespiritualstove.com to get meditation guidance (including several free guided meditations and a free session option) from the amazing Steph!

Step 3: Intention Setting

The main way you can set intentions is, once grounded, asking yourself the question: What do I want? Do not ‘think’ of the answer. Simply listen for it.

There are also many guided intention-setting rituals and prompts available, such as this one (below) created and intuited, and divined, by Tasha at The Libra Tarot (https://www.patreon.com/thelibratarot). It’s technically a spread for Tarot cards, so if you read Tarot, you should definitely do the Spread (or get Tasha to do one for you!), but these are also just incredible reflection prompts!

If you want to make cosmically aligned intentions, you should definitely see where this New Moon is happening within your chart. The first thing is to see which house it is in for you.

You can learn how to calculate and interpret this by purchasing our 2021 Transit Astrology Workbook and Calendar, which is available now for only €6 and has 55 pages of useful information about transit astrology and the transits of 2021.

Step 4: One Small Step

This is an important part of any New Moon ritual, but it is especially important for the Capricorn New Moon. This means taking one tiny, minuscule step in the direction of your intentions.

For example, if this is activating your 2nd and 3rd houses and one of your intentions is to finally buy a car, one small step you can take in this direction is to simply do a quick google search for price-checking or seeing models you like, etc. This is free and takes only a second (you should avoid allowing it to become a rabbit hole, that’s what Capricornian self-discipline is all about).

Wise Words for this New Moon

TheScopeScoop.Quote.William.James

William James, the American psychologist, was born on a New Moon in Capricorn. These wise words are really interesting to think about in terms of this New Moon. We have all gone through such traumatic and intense changes over the past year, and in many ways, this rebirth that is happening now is a culmination of that. Termination and culmination are intertwined, as everything is.

Happy New Moon to all of you and as always, if you have any questions, you can book a session with Cam in our Shop!
