The New Moon is the energetic valley of the Lunar Cycle. It is the lowest energetic point, which is why it is a time for planting seeds. This New Moon in Taurus is especially significant because it is the last New Moon, and major Lunation, before the Eclipses! This means it's the last chance to manifest clearly, because once Eclipse Season stars, the universe tends to take charge for a bit.

Generally speaking, the New Moon is an exciting time but that excitement comes at a lower frequency. If your energy feels a bit lessened, that's totally normal! In this article, you’ll get the full scoop on the astrology (and Moonology) of this New Moon in Taurus on May 11, 2021 @ 14:59 EDT.

The Scoop

Planting the Seeds: The New Moon in Taurus

The Moon enters Taurus completely dark, and this is extremely symbolic of the seeds that we plant at the New Moon. It’s always darkest before the dawn, as they say. This is the larger metaphor of springtime in general—she always comes after the dark night of winter. Once we arrive and life has begun anew, it's time to start the work of the season, as everything is still fertile! That's what Taurus energy is all about.

On May 11 at 14:59 EDT, we have the New Moon—when the Sun and Moon join together in the sign of Taurus.

This is the perfect time for making a grounded, self-worth-minded 12-month financial plan if that's something you want to infuse with that stabilizing and fertile Taurean energy.

P.S. Doing this will also really help you in preparation for the Eclipses and the upcoming Mercury Retrograde.

But, generally speaking, the Taurus New Moon is ruled by Venus, the planet of value and worth. Oftentimes, this is translated and oversimplified into love and specifically romantic love. Yes, Venus signifies a lot about romantic love, but only because romantic love is something we highly value in our cultures. At the core of it, Venus represents everything we value and find worthy. Taurus and Libra (Venus's signs) are connected to beauty because beauty inherently implies value.

Money and our contemporary consumer-capitalist society are deeply embedded in every single one of our individual worldviews and perceptions around worthiness and value. We tend to self-conceptualize as consumers and everything we understand tends to fall within a framework of consumption. How much time does work consume? How much food do I consume? How much data? How much money do I need to consume all the things I want? Perhaps you worry about how others are consuming your energy, or 'wasting your time.'

The Scoop: This Lunation invites us to reflect on all of this and delve deep within to find a purer language for expressing the way we value ourselves.

This New Moon in Taurus is connected to the larger Saturn-Uranus square and Uranus's transit through Taurus in general. This is bringing some radical revolution to our traditional views of our relationship with the Earth and with Nature.

And, at least from my personal observations, it seems that many people are "waking up" to the more mystical truths that lie within a material, earthly reality.

Reason and spirituality don't have to be hostile towards each other as they have been over the past couple hundred years, and Cosmos is inviting us to reconnect to our creative ability and resolve this tension.

This reconnection to our creative ability, with the Goddess, is the Cosmos's greatest way of affirming that we are worthy and valuable.

The tangible creative energy is emphasized by the involvement of Mars (Cancer), who is forming a sextile to Uranus (Taurus). Mars seems to be playing a more supportive role in this Lunation, indicating that we'll have enough energy to accomplish whatever we set our hearts to, we may even surprise ourselves with what we're able to achieve!

Although Saturn is slightly involved via a separating square to the New Moon, this is mitigated by the air trines he's making to Mercury and Venus in Gemini. These two planets dancing together in Mercury's home sign and being supported by Saturn indicates that it is through communication and being able to really relate to others--see and appreciate their value for us and our value for them, and therefore realizing that there is only 'us.'

Notice that the Nodes are involved with Mercury and Venus while also being in a close semi-sextile (half a sextile, i.e., one sign away, a minor aspect) to Mars in Cancer. This means we are invited to remember the upcoming Eclipses when we are making our New Moon Wishes and Intentions.
