New Moon in Pisces: March 13, 2021
The New Moon is the energetic valley of the Lunar Cycle and this New Moon in Pisces is an extremely important one for this astrological year (the solar years 2020-2021)!
Generally speaking, the New Moon is an exciting time but that excitement comes at a lower frequency. If your energy feels a bit lessened, that's totally normal!
In this article, you’ll get a brief scoop on the astrology of this New Moon in Pisces on March 13, 2021 @ 5:21 EST. The full, in-depth scoop is available for Patrons in the Guided Learning Community, here.
The Scoop
The Beginning of the End
Pisces is the last sign of the Zodiac, thus the New Moon in Pisces can be quite literally interpreted as “the beginning of the end” of the astrological year.
During Pisces season, and the New Moon is the heart of every season as it is the time when the Moon and Sun come together (merged; in conjunction; 0° of separation), we are especially intuitive and in tune with something deeper.
For some who are not as familiar with swimming in the murky waters of the unconscious, this may bring haziness and confusion. Be patient, be compassionate, and be creative! We are used to immediate results, but now we must wait for the universe to reveal itself to us. If we are authentic (which we worked on during Aquarius season!) and open with ourselves and those around us, the universe will reveal everything! Pronoia is real.
Important questions to ask ourselves as we set our intentions for the upcoming lunar cycle include:
How will I live my life less selfishly?
How will I live my life more compassionately and consciously?
What self-fulfilling prophecies have I trapped myself in over the past 12 months?
Am I causing myself unnecessary suffering and forgetting about all the actual suffering that's happening in the world?
Make some new and improved prophecies for yourself at this New Moon, then throughout this week (which, by the way, is also a great time to be doing chakra balancing and aligning work), take small steps, and notice how these prophecies are manifesting (or not). In a week, as the Sun enters Aries and we begin the new astrological year, you should reflect on the realism of your prophecies and then determine what your intentions for the year ahead should be based on that reflection!
This is a time to dive deep within ourselves, acknowledge all that we've been through, and figure out what from this past cycle we want to bring with us into the new astrological year.

March 13-20: Prophecies to Intentions
The week of March 13-20 (i.e., the week between this New Moon and the start of Aries Season/Spring Equinox/New Astrological Year) is cosmically loaded.
This week is really amazing because it truly helps us see the process of rebirth happen in a symbolic way.
At the New Moon in Pisces, we 'die.' But, death means being reborn into a new, boundless form. It is like we re-enter the womb. In this womb, we are in the perfect position to make prophecies. These are long-term intentions of a more spiritual nature.
Then, we've got a Venus-Neptune conjunction to help us value these boundless waters in a new, more helpful way. But, this is also a time where we are very vulnerable, just like we are once we begin the process of leaving the warm, protective, embryonic waters of the womb. Our prophecies are not built into our beings. They can change. We do not need to protect them in their vulnerability (or us, even), we just need to adjust our perspective.
Then, we've got the Sun and Venus forming sextiles to Pluto to help us reconceptualize the notion of transformation. This is like the first push. It is extremely painful, but it is also extremely beautiful. This is where we can try to take some small steps in the general direction of these prophecies and actually start reflecting on them to determine what is actionable and what should best be surrendered to fate.
Then, we've got Mars forming a sextile to Chiron to help us realize that transformation and entering these boundless waters (the womb of the unconsious) is the most important part of our healing journey, even if there is pain surrounding their exit/entrance. This is literally the entrance to LIFE! This is where we can start planning. Release the prophecies that aren't helpful, let go of the suffering of the past, and be ready to re-enter the material world!
Finally, we're reborn into the material world (i.e., as babies) as the Sun Enters Aries. The old form shed, the new form still forming. This is where we are ready to set some actionable intentions (i.e., intentions that we can act on). That's what Aries is all about.
But, just like a newborn baby's physical body (i.e., bones, etc.) are not completely formed at the moment of birth, we too are not completely trans-formed, but are instead in a constant process of trans-forming. As should our intentions be!
New Moon in Pisces Ritual:
Because this New Moon is the last of the year, the ritual I'm recommending is a bit different than the usual New Moon Ritual four-step outline (i.e., releasing, grounding, intention setting, and one small step). Essentially, we're just stretching this process out to last an entire week. But, on the New Moon itself, there is another special ritual we should all do.
Walking Barefoot on the Earth
In medical astrology, Pisces rules the feet. The best practice for any Pisces-heavy cosmic energy periods (LIKE THE ONE WE ARE IN NOW) is called "grounding" or "earthing."
This is literally just walking on the ground/earth with your bare feet. It can be grass, it can be soil, it can be sand, it can be whatever earth you have access to. If you don't have access to earth right now (it may still be too cold and that's totally fine!), the best thing to do is just imagine yourself walking barefoot on the earth.
Here's a great graphic I found from someone called David Avocado Wolfe that clearly outlines some of the many benefits of this practice:
As a point of clarification, there is the general spiritual practice known as "grounding" or "earthing" which is simply walking barefoot, and there are also the electronic terms of "grounding" and "earthing," which are differentiated and some spiritual seekers have translated this into their own practice. Feel free to do your own research about this and do whatever feels right for you!
Why is this so important to do during Pisces-heavy periods?
Pisces is the most sensitive of all the zodiac signs. This is clearly connected to the boundlessness that is the heart of the meaning of Pisces--when we don't have boundaries, we are literally exposed to everything around us (we are everything around us). All this sensitivity is enhanced due to the specific planets involved in the cluster (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, & Neptune are all pretty connected to our senses).
The health (physical, emotional, and spiritual) benefits of walking barefoot on the earth are expanded (Jupiter) during times of Pisces, and especially during this New Moon because we are clearing out the old energy and allowing fresh, earthly energy in!
While Grounding...
There are so many different options for how you can go about doing this. You can do the simplest, easiest way, which is basically just walking barefoot on the earth and nothing more. That's great!
You can also add a little meditation in there by contemplating and visualizing your old, unhelpful, dirty, poluted, toxic energy releasing into the earth and then being replaced (like an electrical current) by fresh, clean, light, healthy energy from the earth.
You could throw on some music (here's a playlist I've made for doing this specific ritual, but these are all also just generally great tunes for meditation over these next several days :D).
You could add the burning of some herbs or some incense (ethically sourced is more important now than ever because of the sensitive, psychic nature of Pisces!).
You could add some yoga!
Basically, you can personalize this to be as ritualisitic or simplistic as you'd like, and everything you do is valid and wonderful and gorgeous!
